In 2007 my wife and I bought Edinburgh Bakery, a local family business set in a small village near Houghton-Le-Spring in the North East of England. Trading in the local area since the early 1900’s the bakery was well known for the wholesome flavours and affordable breads, pies and confectionary it sold and refused to compromise on quality. Having served my time as an apprentice baker at Edinburgh Bakery many years ago I can so clearly recall feeling a great sense of passion and pride in the good honest produce we made by hand each and every day for our local community. I am proud to say that this same passion and our strong values remain at the heart of our business today and my son has joined the bakery as an apprentice to carry on our enterprise into the future.
Over the years we have worked hard as a team to reach the highest standards with the products we sell ensuring they all have outstanding flavours, are fresh and wholesome and are sold at a fair price. We use only the best ingredients and source them locally wherever possible.
We have listened carefully to our customers and have worked hard to ensure that we keep the old favourites that everyone knows and loves but can also now offer a much wider range of products. These products include speciality breads made using the sourdough method such as ciabatta, french bread and a variety of bread rolls as well as traditional and new lines of confectionary products such as peach melbas, Russian cake, school cake and many more favourites.
We hope to see you soon at the bakery
